Possibility for Suspended Rain Tent

Howdy. Hoping anybody here can give some opinions/criticism or advice.

Wondering about a kite-like skeleton of wood, then fit with a canvas or sunbrella to function as a rain tent. Instead of the classic boom tent strung atop the when the sail is down, the idea is to suspend this structure beneath the (wooden) boom, by rigging it onto various point along the run of the boom. By the rigging it would be removable and collapsable/stowable.

The point is to allow rain cover in the cockpit, while the main is hoisted for sailing, PNW...

Assuming cleareance for moderate reaches, but generally acknowledging that points of sail would be limited by the precarious nature of this proposed piece, and that real wild winds (often the kin of rain) may be unacceptable- What do you think?!?

What Zee said!!! Used bimini frames and covers are cheap. Look for them in consignment shops and Craigslist. I see them all the time for $100 or less. Most can be altered to fit most any boat and mounting hardware is cheap.
