Portholes leak

I have a porthole (window) on the starboard side that leaks. How do you recommend I repair it?

Does the window open? If so is it leaking on the glass/rubber seal.

If the window is fixed then it must be leaking on the porthole/hull. If that is the case trhe window will have to be removed and then refitted using a good quality sealant.

Or in my case, the fixed and opening port lights are all removed and the cut out has to be built up with fiberglass and epoxy because the yard guy was high the day they cut the template so the windows were never really bedded to the boat

I've been happy with 3M 4200 sealant for this project, but others prefer butyl, which I tried, but it wasn't that easy to work with.

Re: Portholes leak

I’m using butyl tape for the frames, works like a dream. That wont help if the window gaskets for opening windows are leaking though. In my case, my portlight were old and out of production, using proprietary gaskets that I couldn’t source or substitute, so I’ve been replacing the port lights slowly.
