Re: Polycarbonate or Acrylic for Windows

Go glass The very high rates of thermal expansion and contraction on any of the plastics will eventually shear the sealant layer and they will leak.
Have a close look at chemically toughened laminated glass before you buy standard toughened glass.
Google the U tube clip on chemically toughened glass. You will not believe what you see.

And you can get it in a curved form as well.

I put it on my cat when building and am super impressed with it so far; after nearly 2 yrs and 6000Nm Like always time will tell the story!

Re: Polycarbonate or Acrylic for Windows

I replaced my port lights with laminate glass and the sky light with 3/8 tempered glass. All the plastics milked over.

Re: Polycarbonate or Acrylic for Windows

I just replaced my 15 year old 1/4" polycarbonate portlights with 3/8" acrylic and a current neighbor down the dock recently replaced his acrylic with polycarbonate.

Both of us agree that new and clear is nice!
