Plastic thru hulls

I have a 1964 Rawson 30 on the hard while I do a refit, the thru hulls and valves in the engine compartment, all four, are plastic. Looks like they have been there for a while and look in new like condition. Is this something I should to change out?

Re: Plastic thru hulls

hello; my insurance company after reading a new survey of my boat demanded i change my plastic thru hulls to brass or lose coverage. the reason was in any collision scenario where thur hulls are close to the waterline the plastic is fragile. old ones suffer from uv dammage and are can become brittle as we were latter to learn.i changed all of them. it was very expensive. still not sure how i feel about all this....
