Assume governor sticking? Is there an easy process or method to check or has anyone a likely solution.
Many thanks. Cheers Steve

Well done Steve, those little Petter diesels are a rare bird, I had one in my workshop until about a year ago but never actually worked on it. It’s an odd governor, seems to have a couple of
steel balls as flyweights and a quick browse through the
parts catalogue revealed no idle buffer screw. The
injector pump is a fairly simple Bryce cartridge pump but the rack needs to be free to move from no
fuel to full
fuel with no resistance at all. Try resetting the valve clearances, check the relationship of the decompression pins with the rocker
gear, after a valve grind they might be too tight. I assume that the fuel supply has enough pressure and is free of air bubbles, if there’s any doubt about this, gravity feed the engine from an elevated container.
