Okay, I admit it. Repair keel gouges

I've gone aground a few times. Joy is currently on the hard and I would like to repair, fill and fair the bottom of her encapsulated keel. What is your method? Please includ product names and source details.

Thanks.

Fred

Hi, DreaminFred,

It would really help to see pictures of the damage.

If you have water intrusion into an iron keel, you will have a lot to do. The fairing, priming, and painting will be the least of the job.

I would drill some holes in either side of the keel low down to estimate where the ballast ends and glass begins.
Any water intrusion should drain out hopefully.. leave the holes till the last when your do the filling and fairing.
If nothing trickles out celebrate with a few beers..
