New Aloha 8.2 owner

Getting ready to splash! Doing all the usual hull, deck and hardware, electrical maintainance stuff. But due to the relatively low numbers of these boats, there is little structural info to be found. Are there an known problem areas to watch out for? Aside from a small cockpit recore i need to do, shes in great shape for an ol" gal, want to do things right and sail 'er proud. Thanks for any tips!!

Re: New Aloha 8.2 owner

Congratulations on your new boat. If that is one of the Robert Perry designed Aloha's it's much more of a sea boat than you may have imagined. The attached photo is of a 26' Aloha owned by a gent I met in Bermuda a few years ago. He had been out cruising for 17 years and was just returning to Canada from the Mediterranean when I met him. He built a fiberglass dodger after getting splashed one too many times.

Re: New Aloha 8.2 owner

Thanks Jim! it is a Perry design...LOA is 26'6". Seems solid and in good shape for an '82. Needs what you would expect. Hoping to chat up someone who has one before I do anything nutty. Hoping to pocket hop the East Coast. Love the room for a boat this size. Just want to be aware of any quirks, but gonna do a good shakedown on L.I. sound before venturing out. Nice pic BTW.Thanks again!
