Need to know what torque to apply to transmission/engine bolts

Hi,
I need to tighten the bolts attaching the engine and the transmission of my yanmar YSB8. Can anyone tell me which torque I should apply?
Thanks,
Dan

Specifically what bolts?

Bell housing? Cylinder head? Mounting bolts?

Re: Need to know what torque to apply to transmission/engine bolts

Thanks Sailmonkey for your quick reply and sorry if I am not clear. I am not familiar with mechanical terms and my first language is french.

These are the bolts wich attached the transmission housing to the engine. I attached two pictures which I hope will help.

Thanks again,

Dan

My yanmar manual says 7.5 to 8.5 kg-m. That's for m10 x 1.25 bolts.

Thanks for your quick reply. Do you have a YSB8?

Re: Need to know what torque to apply to transmission/engine bolts

no, it's a 4JH2-HTE engine with KM4A transmission.

If your bolts are 10m then the above torque should still work. If your bolts are a different size, let me know and I can probably find the torque.

You should get the yanmar shop manual for the engine. It's very valuable if you do your own work, or want to be able to fix it in remote locations.

in all honesty those bolts aren't' really all that picky about the proper torque. If you have a good feel for how tight a tight bolt is you don't need a calibrated value for them. The cylinder head and connecting rod is another story though.

which is around 75 to 85 Nm as torque wrenches are often in Nm

Re: Need to know what torque to apply to transmission/engine bolts

Thank you all.

I have been looking for the shop manual but the only thing I can find is the user manual which does not help.

Thnaks again for your comments. I am sure I will make it work.
