I wonder how much time you wasted doing that? And how many miles did you travel in your car using petrol, tyers etc.?

Whether you like it or not online shopping is going to happen so there is no point in fighting it. If I want those items I order them on my computer and have them delivered to my post box.

I hope you haven't any money invested in shopping centers!

Re: Need new Hose

One problem may be that standard garden hose connectors are 3/4”, not 1”, in the US. I couldn’t get the link to work so I couldn’t see what you were talking about.

Take it easy. He didn't say that he spent all day driving to hardware stores just to look for this item. He lives in Austin, so he has a house. From experience I can tell you he is probably in various hardware stores all the time for various reasons. It's not a waste of fuel or wear on the car to go to the hardware store.

However, I agree with your other point. If it's that hard to come up with the fittings or adapters you need, then order it online if available. (The link did not work for me either.)

Cheers!

Steve

He said he he made 15 trips to 5 different hardware stores! I suspect he made that point for a reason!! (It sounds as though he is exasperated to me)

In the normal course of events none of us would buy in 5 different hardware stores unless we had trouble finding what we wanted!!

Re: Need new Hose

For some reason Cruisers forum wasn't playing well with Chrome yesterday, this was posted with firefox:

Yes I live in a house. The boat is in the back yard. all the stores are within thirty miles of my house. Google hasn't been much help. I can get the end connectors, but not a complete hose, although I could spend a few more minutes or hours looking. I am hoping by asking my brilliant fellow cruisers, I could find a source quicker and thanks.

OMG! Let's commiserate.....

Can you tell us what the hose is for: that might give us a better idea? (Some garden hoses are reinforced as are some hydraulic hoses)

In the course of building my yacht I have had to buy all sorts of hoses:
  • Some have to be tolerant to salt water.
  • Some to heat.
  • Some to pressure.
  • Some resistant to fire
  • Some to fuel.
Here are some hoses on eBay
https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_...+hose&_sacat=0

PS If that is your drawing I am pretty impressed!

Re: Need new Hose

The hose must hold water.
The connectors must be already connected.
I tried making them my self, now there is water everywhere

Re: Need new Hose

Are the fittings straight thread or tapered? If straight thread, like garden hose, they need a gasket not to leak. Do you have a gasket, hose washer, in the fitting?

Re: Need new Hose

If the water is used for drinking then the hose and fittings need to be food grade (Garden hose is not food grade).

NOTE
Never fill your dog's water bowl from the garden hose as you may give the mutt brain damage.
