NavPod Alternatives ?

Are there any less bulbous instrument pods on the market ? While we've had one NavPod and it was very well constructed a trimmer and less "inflated" look would go better with our boat's lines.

Just want to know before we shell out another wad of cash.

Not that I've seen...IMHO they are horrible looking things and in most cases way deeper than most modern instruments require.
Before I built my helm I looked far and wide and was disappointed at what was available...like so many other "one size fits all" boat crap on the market.
I ended up building my helm to incorporate what I wanted.
Its still bulkier than I would have wanted but that’s what I’ve got.

I agree with you about the horrible look, at least for the ones that will hold a chartplotter. They look like they OD'd on McDonald's junk food.

I like how you put the compass over the instruments. Not sure that would work with our 6-spoke wheel but it would certainly address the too-high problem we're faced with.

I made a mold for the first bit...the center ....then modified it further with the wings..they were made from thin glass skin I made in advance and then cut and fit to the center then glassed the hell out of it……… then a full day of fairing.

Getting my compass low enough was also a challenge.

The whole thing cants to the sides as well so getting the wheel at the right height and dia. so it would clear the seats was also a bit of a challenge

There was more to building it than I expected....pretty much like everything I jump into with out much fore thought!
