My teak decks are terrible

The teak decks on this boat are really worn out. There are pieces sticking up in a few spots like meat hooks. The caulking is cracked and poofed up in most spots.

The deck is teak then 3/8" fiberglass with a balsa core of 3/4" and then another 3/8" fiberglass.

The deck is solid everywhere. I haven't found any spots that feel soft or weak at all.

The areas of rot I found around the deck fill holes were very localized around the screws mostly but I assume there must be worse spots. It did not SEEM to travel very far.

I suppose the point of this post is to ask why does my deck not feel soft or weak like I am expecting it to? Luck? Am I not looking hard enough? I jumped all over like a nutcase.

You won’t really know for sure until you pull the teak off. Sounds like it’s time.

Re: My teak decks are terrible

Maybe your deck is glued on and not screwed?

The screwed on decks with 1000s of holes are a big problem.
