My Dorsett Farallon Project

Hello All,
These are the first pictures taken of my Farallon before bringing her home. She sat on this lot for 30 some odd years with no care at all. But I would love to see her one day soon back out on the water slinging spray every which way. I am going to need a lot of advice along the way as this will be my first marine refurbish job. I have refurbished and repaired recreational vehicles and manufactured homes made of various materials over the years but never something so important or as a dear as this project will be to me. Thanks for taking a look at her and I hope someone can give me some pointers. I will post more pictures after I clean her all out and get her scrubbed down real good. (What would be the best way to start? Get her off the trailer is one thing but I am not sure how to build a dry dock for her. Any suggestions, and what should I use for glass for the hull? Where should I begin to prep the hull?) She is going to have to be stripped inside and out so I thought I would take loads of pictures of everything as it comes out or off so I will know where to put it back. Also I think saving the internal wood as it comes out for a pattern might be a good idea as well. Last but not least, does anyone have an idea of the exact year of my girl. I know she is a 1959 or a 1960 but which one I can't pin point and getting information on Dorsett boats is hard work. Know one has much on the company. Fiberglassics has very limited information and the Marine Museums I have checked can only come up with brochures and price sheets. Nothing substantial. So, if anyone has any leads in that area I would be grateful.
Thank you.

She's got classic lines - she'll be even very prettier when restored. Good luck.

Re: My Dorsett Farallon Project

Most of that will buff right out.
If it's a labor of love then the finances don't matter. If you are looking to ever see a return on investment you might want to ascertain if there is a market for this particular design before spending ten times what you had budgeted for a proper restoration.
Good luck.

Re: My Dorsett Farallon Project/Boat Information Help

Does anyone think it possible to get information on my boat via the serial number or maybe the boat registration number. I think the serial number is the number on the stern and the registration is of course on the bow but are the numbers still active or on record after all these years is my question. Last does the registration number ID 5059 D stand for Idaho and the D for Dorsett or is that a 0 at the end and is the serial number still active somewhere and if so where? Here's a picture of both. Thanks and by the way the clean up is coming along really good. Pictures coming soon..
