Mouse on board

i have a mouse on board,i tried sticky pads, traps with peanutbutter inside,he is still here,gets into everything

Mint oil on hunks of wadded up paper towel stuck in the drawers, cabinets and anywhere else you can think to stick them, worked for me, isn't toxic and it even worked for squirrels during layup. I used mint oil from the natural food store not the mint flavoring from the baking section of the supermarket.

What does that do? Does it drive them away or do they eat it and it kills them?

We had a mouse get on board in Sardinia this year. Local hardwear store had old fashion mouse traps. Took about 4 days but chocolate got him in the end.
Made his nest in my wife's best shoes we discovered later. Not best pleased ��

They leave and go to the boat next door.

Mousetraps work if the mouse has no other food to eat. They are wary of traps out in the open.Is it possible it's eating out of your stored food? Maybe you could remove all the food and leave a few traps with different kinds of bait around the boat (and perhaps leave the boat for a night to not spook it).

Mice are afraid of open spaces in general and will always prefer to run right next to a wall instead.

The first thing you need to do is identify it is FOR SURE a mouse, and not a rat or cockroaches. This can be done by observing the poops and using online resources to identify which pest it's coming from.

Seal all your food and reduce clean water availability as much as possible.

Use Victor brand traps, modified with nails stuck through from the bottom. Victor traps are properly engineered - others are not sensitive enough and do not snap reliably.

Peanut butter for bait. Not too much - we're not trying to feed the animal. And on the bottom of the trigger so it gets tripped.

I've been there and it is not fun to have another living creature share a small boat with you. Our's bit into a bottle of olive oil, cut into and ate cereal boxes and left droppings in our cabinets. It would make noises at night as it chewed into our insulation. I tried everything, traps, sticky pads, etc and he/she would never go for it. It went on for weeks and at a haulout during that time it went away.

I told friends I let a boa constrictor roam the boat for a few days, but I never actually did that. I'll let you give that a try.

Mouse trap. If they are on the island I imagine a store has one. I have tried other things and nothing more effective than an old fashioned trap. I had mice all over the house a couple years ago. I bought those safe traps and would let them go outside. I just kept having mice all the time. So I bought two old fashioned traps. Killed two mice and not one mouse has been back for 2 years. They obviously have a communication between mice.
Please dont use poison. It's killing raptors and animals in droves. This year 40% of dead raptors found died from rat poison, they eat the dying mice and it kills them.

It's very rare to have "a mouse." More likely you have "mice."

The old-fashioned spring traps work. Peanut butter is an ideal bait. Newer spring traps also work. An assortment of different types is a good idea. Remove whatever they're currently using as a source of food or nesting material, and put the traps in their place, along bulkheads or in other corners or dark places they like.

The best trap I've ever used, hands down, is the "walk the plank" trap, as seen on Moustrap Monday. It's an extension of the very effective bucket trap, but in my experience it works even better.

The thing is, regular spring traps will get a lot of mice, but the plank will get them all, which is what you really need to do.

my friend had a snake get on board from the Everglades last fall. THAT was a rude awakening at 2am

Then how do you know you get all of them?

how would you hook a mouse for fish bait?
