Maintaining Katadyn Manual Watermaker

Question: I bought a manual Katadyn watermaker from Ebay.
Sending it in will set me back about the same amount as a new membrane. Is it responsible to order all the parts and just service the item myself or does it require special tools/knowledge and what have you? Thnx!

Nothing special needed, just follow the instructions for fitting the new seals and all will be well.

Just replaced the membrane on my Survivor 06. Easy. Good tech support if you need it.

I have lots of experience with the gov surplus units from Ebay. I buy them because you get a brand new unit and if you do a mild clean of the membrane with biocide it works just fine. I attach the new pump and membrane section to my old motor assembly. I get about 2 years of service in Catalina Harbor before the membrane fouls. My pre filtering is 20mc and 10mc and I have the unit set up on auto run with a ACR battery combiner. I am currently getting 78ppm due to winter cool & clear water. Not bad considering my replacement for these units are around 200.00 ship inc. I suggest you try and test the output before you invest in parts.
