Replace it! If you can get it, get SS mesh armored.

LPG = Liquified Petroleum Gas.

This is an industry standard definition and it is a deliberately ambiguous term. Butane kept at the right pressures/temperatures can be LPG. Propane kept at the right pressures/temperatures can be LPG. The terms butane, propane, and LPG are used somewhat interchangeably although they are chemically distinct (and then there are the isomers of the various compounds).

Wherever you go in the world most LPG is a mixture of butane and propane, along with a few other minor petroleum compounds. The composition of the mixture usually depends on the weather. Propane will gasify at temperatures as low as -42C, butane will gasify down to -1C. In cold weather areas (Canadian winter) you'll generally find nearly 100% propane when you purchase LPG. In tropical climes you may generally find nearly 100% butane.

Propane reaches a pressure of 10bar at 25C, butane only reaches a pressure of 1.5bar under the same conditions, thus the differences in composition of LPG depending on temperature. In moderate climates you will even see a change from winter mix to summer mix and back, and may find that a bottle containing summer mix (from your barbecue season) just doesn't work well in the winter as there isn't enough propane to vaporize at the lower temperatures.

Propane is too dangerous to "wait until it breaks" to fix it.
42 year old hose is an accident looking for a place to happen.

Re: LPG Regulator Bad or Need New Hose?

After having several of those SS covered rubber hoses fail I'm switching to copper pigtails on my houseboat. Just have to be a bit more careful changing over the bottles. If you see those SS ones start to swell at all, change them!!!
