Lino on walls?

Hi, just bought a Contessa 26 and the last owner painted the cabin a dark red. I found a good looking (and believable) wood-effect lino with what looks like a closed-cell/dense foambacking.

I was wondering if this would make a decent covering for the walls/bulkhead. Anyone got any experience of working with it and its properties? (or suggestions)

I would paint it a color you like. I have no idea how resistant to delamination in a marine environment the linoleum would be.

Lino has to be laid on a very fair surface or every single little lump and bump will show up like a set of doggies danglers. And, fake wood always looks like fake wood.

The better alternative is the use of the synthetic, loop pile fabric which is often used for portable office partitions. A little 3M contact spray glue an afternoon with a pair of scissors and a six pack and you're all done. Looks great (no more than a six pack though), is resistant to stains and mildew and can be washed in situ with any detergent and a sponge.And, it hides beautifully the aforementioned lumps and bumps.

I built a 36'er in the 80's and stuck this stuff onto the inner hull in the salon and deck head. It is brilliant!

Why not paint the fiberglass and left the beautiful weave show through?
