Lewmar electric winch control box

I have to replace a Lewmar control box for an electric 2 speed st 66 winch. The new box is different to the old (improved, updated?). Has anyone got experience of this swap out and if so is it a job for an enthusiastic amateur?

What was the outcome?? Is the new box better?? I'm dealing with a Lewmar control Box that sometimes comes on/doesn't shut off. Does the new box address that issue??

I'm thinking of putting a pull-down resistor between each switch input terminal and ground on the current box, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Given the cause for injury and damage, I wouldn't hesitate to replace the box if it solved the problem.

I would think that pull-down resistors would also help on anchor windlass control boxes--I've also had anchor windlasses decide to dump the chain mid-ocean in heavy weather when salt water seeps into the deck switch. I'm thinking of about 10 ohms at 1 watt, but would appreciate input.
