leaking fuel tank repair question

I have a 95gal gas fuel tank, aluminum with no obvious signs of corrosion that I can see yet that must have a small weld seam leak or a pin hole or two. have not pulled it yet. A friend told me about this tank sealer stuff. I am wondering if anybody knows anything about this product or thoughts on this type of repair, if in fact that's the only leak i do have. Whats your thoughts. My first impression is to just have a new tank made but not to sure of that cost yet, but i could "repair / coat" my current tank with this stuff for about $275 I think. OK give me your ideas folks. Oh ya, the product is "KBS Tank sealer kit"

if you have to pull it out .. i would install a new tank and be done with it.

Re: leaking fuel tank repair question

If you can positively identify the source of the leak, an aluiminium patch can be epoxied over it with a good chance of permanent sealing. I've done this with weld seam pinholes in a diesel tank, and the repair was still good when I sold the boat a decade later. Epoxy bonds well with clean aluminium.

Cheers,

Jim
