Kohler Genset Seawater Pump Question

I just installed a new seawater pump and it is running dry. What is the secret to priming this pump. I shut i down quickly as to not ruin the impeller. Thanks

Re: Kohler Genset seawater pump question

If there is no obstruction on the inlet or outlet and no endplay on the impeller it will prime itself.

What Vyndance said.

If the pump is below the waterline, you can crack open the impeller housing to get water to flow.

I corrected a similar problem for a friend once....... I put the inlet and outlet hoses in the correct place! (He had them reversed)
