Katadyne PS 40

Just got a new to me Kat PS 40. 2 questions please.

The prefilters did not come with the pump. Can I buy filters at the hardware store or do I need the KAT ones?

If I can buy what size and type please?

The 3 way valves any will do I take it?

KAT uses a hardware store prefilter like Opaq Whole House System GXWH04F-GXWH04F at The Home Depot

Any 3 way valve will do.

Just be sure to use poly filters and not cellulose filters

Well bugger me! West marine sell housing and poly filters for a fraction of the katadyne ones.

However when you said any 3 way valve would do, I am stuggling to find on the net and local hardware stores need 3/8 and a 3/16. Any help kind people.
