Is unpainted fairing compound OK to leave for a while?

I'm doing some fiberglass repair, and have finished the glassing, next step is fairing. However, I won't have time to properly paint / gelcoat before I have to leave. Will vinyl-ester fairing compound be OK exposed to rain? Or should I wait until my next trip to do this?

Edit: I suppose I should clarify, this is compound made from vinyl-ester resin and q-cel.
