Iron keel treatment and results

I have searched this forum and found many ideas. Thank you to thous who contributed. I have a rusty keel and would like to know what you did to treat and coat it and "most importantly" what your results were.
Again, I have more than enough ideas and recommendations as to products and techniques. I need to know what you did and how it worked. Did it last a year? Two years? started spotting after X years and so on. Thank you in advance.
