Interlux Mi Ron CSC-CA

Does anybody know the minimum and maximum times for immersion of the boat after application of final coat of above paint? Can is silent. Website says “24hours”, but doesn’t say if this is the minimum, the maximum or the optimum. If it is the minimum, what is the maximum? If max, what is the minimum? If answer is on their website, I couldn’t find it. Dealer I bought it from thinks it is the maximum time, but is not sure i. Interlux support is useless. No response at all to three emails and the only phone number/chat/message service etc I can find is a 1-800 number that doesn’t work in Canada. At $310.00 a gallon, and $500 for the haul out, I don’t want to take any chances. Thanks.

Micron CSC, not Mi Ron. This is a very popular anti fouling paint. Somebody must know the immersion times.

Drying times depend on ambient temperatures [45°F - 95°F], but Micron CSC ranges between 1-2 hours for touch dry, and at least 16 hours for immersion.
There is no maximum time to immersion.

Thanks. That helps. The “no maximum “ is important. Did you find this on their website or??

Micron CSC is a copper-based, ablative, antifouling.
A vessel left on the hard stand [exposed to air], for a longer period, will be affected by oxygen, heat, and sunlight. This leads to mild oxidization [of Cu] of the surface.
Do not exceed the maximum immersion time for the antifouling, as stated on the datasheet.
Interlux offers no specification for maximum exposure time [application to immersion].

Exposure to air causes the copper, in bottom paints to oxidize, and become ineffective.
Since ‘hard’ bottom paints don’t wear away [polish] the exposed surface, they cannot be exposed to oxygen [for ± 2 - 3 days], at anytime during it’s life cycle.
Just like hard bottom paint, ‘ablative’ bottom paint will also oxidize. However, since it is ablative, there is always fresh copper biocides being exposed, to keep the bottom paint effective.

Nonetheless, I would, still, minimize the exposure time [after 16 hrs drying], as much as practicable.
