Yes sir, a fee-nominal wood for many uses, hard, heavy, and one of the stiffest woods available, it does have a learning curve.
I've used it for a wheelbox hatch top where a thin thickness needed to resist bending with someone standing on it.
I believe it's a member of the Rosewood family.
