I used Sunbrella and found it easy to sew, very durable and easy to wash clean. If you find it a little stiff for your machine, you can easily modify your machine by doing these 3 things.
1) install a heavy duty spring in the pressure port.
2) buy for about $25 a fabric feeder attachment
3) use size 18-20 needles with a rounded point. Sorry I forgot what these are called.they go thru the fabric without snagging.
I was impressed at the marine fabric shop with the fabric on the customer couch. It had been on that sofa 15 years and still looked great! I sewed ours 5 years ago and we live aboard 6-9 months of the year. It still looks great. I wash it once a year. It comes out clean and bright. For a weekender or summer sailor, this should last forever. For a close to full time liveaboard, so far so good!
