Installing new propane system - where to put the fume detector?

I'm in the middle of installing a new propane system on my boat, and have seen competing recommendations on the location of the fume detector. Some suggest installing it directly underneath the stove, others suggest installing in the bilge. My new system has a single continuous gas line running from the propane locker aft to the galley, the only connections in the line being at the stove itself, and to the solenoid in the vapor-tight locker. The gas line itself runs inside a PVC conduit running almost the entire length, so it's quite well protected.

Another question that seems to generate differing opinions is where to run the solenoid cable? I've run it alongside the gas line, inside the PVC conduit. I intentionally used over-sized 16 AWG marine duplex wire for the run, with an estimated voltage drop of 1.25%. Any thoughts on the pros and cons of running the wire alongside the gas line?

Regards,
David
