Icemaker broken wonder why

I have a built in Mermaid icemaker, which has been working well. I have an auxiliary fan mounted in the cabinet which keeps it running cool and I keep the condenser clean.
I went to get ice today and most of the ice in the bin was melted and the unit was not cold. So I turned off the icemaker and checked that nothing was falling off and that it had power.
When I turn the unit on, the compressor starts up, then after about 2 seconds, it shudders and turns off. After a time delay, this repeats. This just started today. So, the icemaker does not get cold any more.
I have another icemaker on the same circuit that runs just fine.
What is the problem?

Two ice makers on the same circuit? How big is your boat and why are you posting on the Cruisers Forum?

A 2 second delay between start and stop most likely isn't a refrigerant charge problem. Most likely it is the start capacitor. You can buy multi-meters that will check them or call a repair man.
