hydraulic backstay

i plan to bring my navtec hydraulic backstay adjuster in to replace the face on the pressure gauge since it is no longer legible. this equipment is original 1984 and working fine. do i go with the "if it ain't broke" rule, or is there preventative maintenance servicing that should be performed ?

If you don't know when the equipment was serviced last, the safe answer is to get it serviced. I would suggest that Florida Rigging and Hydraulics did a real nice job at a reasonable price on my Father's boat's hydraulics.
