Hull Repair Recommendations US NE

Hi all. I have a Beneteau with the dreaded grid/hull matrix separation due to grounding. I won’t let my local marina touch this type of repair (I quizzed them on it, and they want to turn it into the next Cheeky Rafiki...), and I want it done professionally and properly.

Can y’all recommend a heavy/depot level boat repair facility in the US Northeast? NY/NJ/CT/RI would be ideal.

Hi, I don’t have any experience with the kind of work you need done but when I was looking to get a full bottom job on our boat last year I called a lot of places and can suggest a few if you wanna look into them:

Silver cloud marina in Forked river, NJ
Barron’s boatyard in City Island, NY
Willis Marine in Huntington, NY
West Shore Marina in Huntington, NY

I had the work done at West Shore, the marina is not full service but there’s a guy who does a lot of hull and deck work, pm me if you want his name and contact.

I would start calling places and ask what kind of work they do, visiting some of those places to see their work in action would be even better as you can assess their work.

Another thing that you may or may not be doing is asking various surveyors, local people know where they do good work and can refer you.

You can also ask other Beneteau owners for recommendations.

Good luck.

Lockwood's Boat Works, South Amboy, NJ, they excel in structural repairs. Bring a fat wallet.

Dodson does excellent finish work, no experience with their structural repairs.

Pilot's Point in Westbrook CT might be a good option. They worked on a Swan 47 we knew that hit rocks transiting Woods Hole. Where is the boat? Moving it could be tricky.
