HR36 skeg repair help

Hello Sailors,
A fiberglass layer that extended down the skeg on our Hallberg-Rassy 36 MKiito cover the bronze rudder bearing has delaminated, exposing what appears to be fairing compound below. After a winter on the hard, we removed the delaminated glass layer and sanded down the substrate, which looks like fairing compound. Does anyone have advice on how to repair to prevent moisture from getting to the skeg stock - do I need to have a new fiberglass layer on both the bronze end of the skgeg and the fairing compound, then cover with barrier coat and antifoul, or can I just apply barrier coat and antifoul directly to both - or even leave the bronze exposed? Any advice from folks with experience what lasts and will safely repair this would be super helpful. Some of the advice I’ve seen ranges from laying down plastic putty (rather than epoxy) and then adding barrier coat, etc while others suggest fiberglass in the skeg in. What’s more foolproof? I have a similar setup but the rudder shoe is attached to my keel. It has a layer of marine fairing compound, barrier coat and antifouling paint. It has remained intact for 36 years so far. I think the thin layer of glass was your weak point but it should last several more years should you decide to use that method again.
