Re: How to remove vinyl lettering shadow?

The gel coat is protected by the decal or lettering.

When I removed these from my boat I was able to feel that the gel coat was higher where is was protected by the decal.

The solution I used was to wet sand the gel coat, up to 2,000 grit, until I was unable to feel the old decal.

There was a barely perceptible ghost decal that faded quickly.
