How to remove 18 years of copper coat ?

Hi all

I have an 18 yo cat and I think there has been a new coat of copper applied each year.

That could be 300-400kgs ! Or more...... I was told a similar boat to mine lost 500 kgs doing the same.

I had a quote of $6,000 to sand blast it off and I'm not paying that, I was thinking an abrasive disc of some sort on an angle grinder, I'm not bad with a grinder but also know copper picks up on most things.

Anyone with some experience ?
