How do I service old Lewmar 44ST winches with six allen screws on the top?

I'm upgrading the winches on my O'day 34 from the original Barlow 25 to a pair of Lewmar 44ST spring jaws with the six allen screws in the top.

I finished removing the Barlows and filling the holes this weekend. I'm ready to install the Lewmar ... if I could figure out how to take them apart.

I took the six allen screws out, and the top ring and tailing arm came off, but I was left with one more ring of metal on top, and I have no idea how to progress past this point.

Does anyone know how to take these apart or have a service manual for them. I found diagrams online for every type of Lewmar winch except these.

Thanks for any help.

Re: How do I service old Lewmar 44ST winches with six allen screws on the top?

Lewmar sent instructions this morning. If anyone else is struggling with this puzzle, you tap the tailing arm with a rubber mallet counter-clockwise to loosen the inside nut. Then you remove the six allen screws. Then you can unscrew the metal plate and everything comes apart.

Same thing when re-assembling. Put it all back together, then tap the arm clockwise to cinch it all back up.
