Headliner Replacement on 42' Lagoon

Hi all
We have a 1995 42 foot lagoon cat. Recent fiberglass repair has necessitated replacing the headliner( which was in poor condition anyway) . We used FRP panels from Lowe's as so many of you suggested. Fiberglassed wood strips to the inside of the concave ceiling and then screwed these panels into the wood- mostly. This cat has the most ridiculously shaped windows. Now the problem is how to find a trim that will conform to the odd shapes. I've been to metal fabricators, plastic factories, panel factories, Lowe's ,Home depot and more. The old trim was made of plastic, but will not cover the new material-any suggestions?

Also, has anyone found a way to cover the windows from the inside-shades? Where should we order them from?

You might have to custom make your window trim out of wood.

Is that still the balloon shaped salon roof? That has to be a challenge. You may be able to form a mold for fiberglass trim pieces by sticking on 3/4" foam freezer tape to fit, spraying with light adhesive, covering with stretchy felt, and stiffening with sprayed gel coat. When the gel coat has cured, you peel sections at a time, remove the foam and put a layer or two of glass matt on the inside of the felt. It will be an awful mess to clean up if you don't carpet the entire space with drip cloth. Work on one frame at a time, and use contoured foam for a nice look. Dents or wrinkles in the foam and the felt can be filled with micro balloons.

Yes, it still has a concave dome-I can't imagine why anyone would have made an interior that shape. to make matters worse, the windows are all weird and different.

We are not able-competent-to work with fiberglass at least not to the extent you suggested. Your solution sounds great. What we did was with plastic panels and making a fake roof with boards epoxied onto the inside of the dome so we would not have to really drill into the fiberglass ceiling. Looks a bit homemade, but it is the best we could do. Now the problem is figuring out how to trim totally abnormal windows.

Does anyone know if Lagoon sells spare parts?

I believe your Lagoon was built under contract by TPI (Tillotson Pearson) in the northeast. They are a first rate company...maybe try them. And congrats.... you have the best Cat hull ever built, IMHO, wish I still had mine. But then I loved the Bubble Top style when compared with the current "phone booth" style!
