OK - another challenge - another find of "the chinese never fail to amaze me"

alibaba outboard motor

says: 826 outboard engines available. - Count them yourself

Chinese homebrew crap?!
So I did try to count those that could be delivered with certification...
...after a while I gave up... a seriously sizeable fraction says: "chinese well-known brand - with CE/VCA/EPA approved"
some of them had a pic with the certification right there
Go there have a look. Some of them "chinese well-known" look very well known to me too (but I'm no expert).

Finally I wanted to know who else knew:
Mercury Marine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
Mercury Outboards, 30 Hp and less, are made by Tohatsu in Japan.[1]
Mercury Marine builds 40, 50 and 60 horsepower outboard motors in Suzhou, China.[2]
...now it seems "Who doesn't know"

Re: Have the Chinese Missed a Market?

nothing says made in asia--it will say china or japan or korea or vn or wherever. but not asia--there is no united states of asia. most of the places dont agree on most stuff ---try calling by nation so folks know where it is actually made that scares you.
