Grounding damage

Hello a few days ago i bounced hard on the ground (sand) multiple times and now i got some damage. as far as i can tell there is no leak
(okay got one but from an unrelated matter that should be a easy fix)

the rudder is bend and the tiller is a bit loose.
the keel bolts seem to be okay from the inside
but there is visible damage on the outside.

i am thinking of chipping the loose parts on the outside off and repairing it with epoxy & fiberglass.

not sure what to do about the rudder.
would really prefer to repair then replace.

any thoughts/tips on fixing this? thanks in advance.

Re: Grounding damage

Its this one https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/co...8?units=metric

I've removed the loose parts from the hull. most came off in 2 big pieces.

theres a small crack at the front (third picture right corner) but for the rest it seems to be fine.
I will start replacing the fiberglass soon.

i am thinking of sanding it abit with the hand to give it more grip then fill in the gaps with epoxy and fiberglass and once its starting to smooth just lay it on till it gets its shape back.

Re: Grounding damage

You might take the rudder off and see if a machine shop can press the shaft straight again, then "persuade the gudgeons to line up again.....hard to see what is going on with the hull, but if it is just fairing or fairing and fiberglass, just grind it back to a good tapered edge and have at it. Maybe have someone from the yard give an opinion. Good luck.

Re: Grounding damage

That flange type cast iron keel has a pretty wide leverage path. I'd strip about 18" all the way around the keel and make sure there are no hull fractures.
