I was going to make it 105/106. If the man wants a day tank for water so be it. 107

Re: Gravity tank for fresh water - any experience?

How about 2 foot pumps plumbed in parallel and skip the gravity tank. Mount them close enough to each other that, if desired, one can use both simultaneously to achieve more flow.

-Inexpensive
-Easy to install
-Non-electric
-A double pump failure is extremely unlikely

Re: Gravity tank for fresh water - any experience?

That is another interesting idea to consider, Steve. I'm thinking more in line foot pump and hand-pump on the spare tap, parallel - you're right in saying double failure is much less likely. Another thing to think about (please, be it April finally, I'll get to my boat and start doing things instead of thinking what to do ).

Danitarh water or drinkable water?

Anyway, air must get in/out when filling/draining. How would you get it!? Sounds cumbersome and impractical..... (manual valves, risk of spillage...boring refill).

I use a day tank for drinking, and it is already enough of an annoyance, though l'm happy with it..

Monika: A little off topic, but nevertheless:

In the current issue of Woodenboat there is a quite interesting article, interview style, about Suhaili and Knox-Johnson.

I assume that you are the sort of woman that subscribes to Woodenboat? If you are not already doing so, I recommend it. Woodenboat is, IMO, far and away the best "special interest magazine" offered to sailors these days, and it speaks to those of us who float on frozen snot as much as to those who wouldn't be caught dead associated with such a substance.

I'm glad to be able to say that I have every single one of the 255 numbers issued so far :-).
