Glassing over thru-hull....again.

I have already glassed over 2 thru-hull holes and I'm contemplating a 3rd. My old speed transducer hole is at the centre-line of the hull and at its thickest point.

The issue is, in order to get a 12:1 bevel I will need to grind out the centre-line and up the other side of the hull. I don't see much benefit in doing this since i can't see the hull flexing much at this point. However; its at a critical location that needs to be strong in the case of hitting something or falling off a wave its close to the leading edge.

Is it necessary to grind a 12:1 in this location or is going to the centre-line good enough?

Taking the bevel to the centerline will be structurally much stronger than the existing hole.

Good point.

Maybe i try to follow the specifics too much and forget about logic sometimes.
