Gel Shielding as a Precaution

Hi,
I have a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 37 ft build in 2002. No blisters at eye inspection. Do you advice gel shielding as a precaution?

Re: Gel shielding as a precaution

3 coats of Interlux Interprotect couldn't hurt but a newer Jeanneau likely has a couple of layup layers using vinylester resin on the outside of the hull to protect against blisters.

Thanks mikefossl,
I take your advice as "not a definite measure, but can be done".

Re: Gel shielding as a precaution

I have a 2000 CS 40 with a similar layup including two layers of Vinylester resin. When I bought the boat after 8 years in salt water (California and Mexico), the hull was fine but needed a bottom coat. I had it sanded to the gelcoat, three coats of Interprotect 2000 and 2 coats of Micron Extra. After two years the bottom is still holding up and I don't plan on painting again until next winter.

Belt and suspenders I always say.

Thanks a lot. I liked the belt and suspenders.
