Thanks. I'm slowly coming down off of the murderous rage I've been stewing in since Saturday AM. Tough weekend...

I don't blame you one bit.. I'd be pissed as hell..

You mentioned in your blog the police came out and took prints but seemed more interested in the equipment serial number and description for the insurance. This same thing happened to a friend of mine on his boat a number of years ago. The reason they were so diligent about the information is that it will go to all the pawn shops in the area for them to be on the alert.

Crooks are stupid... I can almost guarantee that they will pawn this stuff in or near your town. The police know these places. My friend actually spent a few days and went to a bunch of pawn shops and found some of his equipment. That led to a name and an arrest. He was able to recover and two thirds of his stuff.

Good luck. Hang in there!!

Re: Future Brown Water Cruiser: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit

Thanks, Pirate999. The thing is, you can spend a lot of time driving around looking for your stuff and not find anything. I also think the police's pawn shop database reflects a "checked box." The only parameter they care about is the serial number, even though manufacturer names, model numbers, and other details might also be useful. So, the cops can say they've got a database and they checked it, but unless you've got serial numbers it's pointless. But really, just as an example, how many Makita 18v Li-ion cordless drills with spare batteries and still in the original case come into pawn shops in any given month? How many Makita 5007MGs that are set up as a track saw? And what about all the stuff that doesn't have serial numbers? In my loss, the value of items lost that didn't have numbers was 20x the value of the big power tools that did. Bah...cops.

Anyway, it's been a while, but I'm slowly getting back to where I was before the theft. I'm still not too enthused about writing articles, because I can't get anything done because every time I try I find that I need a particular tool that was stolen. On just one day recently, I started seven different jobs and then stopped because I found I needed a tool I don't have anymore.

Anyway, here's the latest update. Hopefully, I'll be back into the swing of things soon. 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit: Alarmed

Re: Future Brown Water Cruiser: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit

I won't be splashing the boat this year, but the swim platform is one of the bigger exterior items that still needs to be installed. The timing was right, so I fixed some bad patches and epoxy coated the whole thing using West System resin with their UV resistant 207 Special Clear hardener. After all of the BS since May, it was nice to start a project and see some real progress.

The project hasn't stopped, but I haven't been faithfully blogging as I did before.

Over the summer, I got my hydraulic steering installed. This article covers the first part of that effort.

Re: Future Brown Water Cruiser: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit

Thanks, ZH.

The Datsun is still in "suspended animation" (ie on the rotisserie). But as Roamer parts leave the garage and return to the boat, I'm starting to see bits and pieces of the 240. Someday...

She's looking good. . I've been slowly working on the sistership. Just enjoyed a great weekend out on her. You need to splash her so you can enjoy all this hard work and expense. You need to splash to do a proper alignment on the engines anyways

Hey NJ! Good to hear from you.

Yeah, the hours spent commuting to the yard and back really add up. Even if it means living in a construction zone, it'd be nice to be able to get a full day in. The boat'd get done that much faster.

Re: Future Brown Water Cruiser: 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit

Big step forward here: I got the props back and ready to install. I was surprised when I tried but failed to find Prussian Blue...not a single auto parts store in my area carried it. They can order it, but it's not on the shelf. Most of the counter people I spoke with didn't even know what Prussian Blue is. I ended up ordering online, and even that took ten days to get here.

I think this is one of many signs that we're at the end of times. lol

Anyway, here's the latest-- 1969 Chris Craft Roamer 46 Refit: Props
