I have a 110 gallon
aluminum freshwater tank. It's too buried to remove and replace so I'm going to live with it for as long as I can. Over the summer I cut two 8x12" holes in the top of it for access/cleaning and then sealed it back up with starboard,
sealant, and lots of sheet metal screws.
Recently while sailing, I discovered that it was leaking pretty badly as a result of not sealing my holes well enough, so I applied a healthy amount of 3M 4000 which did the trick. I did notice however that just in the 3 months that it's been sitting, there were lots of mineral deposits and buildup inside the tank. Is this preventable by adding something to the
tanks periodically, or do I have to open them up and scrape them manually?
Thanks for your time and consideration! I really appreciate any
advice you may have.
