Forward-facing opening portlights in v-berth?

What are your views in forward-facing opening ports in the v-berth of a 35-foot offshore cruiser? Stainless steel, 10 inches. Should be able to take any water impact, and add to ventilation. Any opinions or experiences with such a set up??

Thx
