Ford Lehman hose size?

I've got a Ford Lehman 4 cylinder on my boat. It's time to change out the water heater on board(30 years is long enough). Can anyone tell me what sie the hose might be that goes from the engine block to the heater and back. I'd like to have it on board when I start ripping out the old one. Being in Fiji, finding parts isn't that easy.

These usually are dictated by the fittings on the water heater and not the engine. Or both could be thread in fittings of the installers choice. Sorry, no easy answer.

Pop a line off and measure it.

Re: Ford Lehman hose size?

If it's been there 30 years then it could be good and proper stuck so that you have to destroy it to get it off.

A piece of 2" rubber hose that I just happen to have beside me (on it's way to the dump!) has a wall thickness of 5mm so you could measure the outside diameter of yours and deduct 10mm.

I would not be surprised to find that they used standard sizes - i.e. 3/4", 1", 1 1/4" up to 2" (or more). Cheap calipers and careful measurement should do the trick.

Agreed, by measuring the OD of the hose it's easy enough to figure out the ID, especially if you take a look at the end of the where you can get a sense of its thickness.
