Re: Fixed window replacement - Dow 795 still the sealant of choice?

I also think Sikaflex 295UV is the better product. Their primer doubles as the black paint and is designed to go together with the 295.

Just an update from the OP. The 795 has been great, so far. We aren't finished. But, it is VERY messy.

McMaster.com has Dow 795. In 20 yrs of repair experience,, it has proven the best results with acrylic. Often overnight delivery...

What went wrong with the Sikaflex 295UV then? I have never heard of a failure with that either...

Re: Fixed window replacement - Dow 795 still the sealant of choice?

Does anyone have experience with using

DAP® 3.0™ Window, Door, Trim & Siding High Performance Sealant ?
DAP Products - Silicone Sealants - DAP® 3.0 ™ Window, Door, Trim & Siding High Performance Sealant

I have used on a window another product, permatex RTV black gasket maker in a cartridge tube with decent results. This is the same stuff you normally use on an engine to seal water and oil and it is extremely flexible sealant. Comes in black and grey.

Permatex/13 oz. (369 g.) cartridge Ultra Black maximum oil resistance RTV silicone gasket maker (24105) | RTV Adhesive | AutoZone.com

Sikaflex 295UV is great at $23/tube + primer $$$.

Dow 795 $9/tube, no primer.

Re: Fixed window replacement - Dow 795 still the sealant of choice?

I paid $40 AU a tube for 795 from Lincoln Sentry in Queensland. I'm prepared to pay $40 next time but would be happy to pay less if someone knows of another source in Australia.
