Fender Valve Replacement

I have several fenders which are leaking air from the inflator valve (like a standard basketball or volleyball needle type valve).

I have seen videos on youtube of these valves being replaced by pulling out the old ones and shoving the new ones in.

Before I spend money and wait a week for replacement valves to arrive, has anyone done this successfully?

It seems to me from my inexperienced perspective that this operation would have a low chance of success.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Fender Valve Replacement

Once upon a time, I found a good-sized fender that had been discarded because the valve leaked. Being in a situation where I had lots of time to play, I discovered that the sealing part of the assembly that was pierced by the filling needle was actually about 3/8” inside the assembly. I carefully drilled the outer part of the assembly where you insert the needle and then used a bottom tap to thread it for a 6x32 screw. Remove screw, fill fender, quickly replace the screw. Believe it or not, it held up until just a few months ago when the plastic valve assembly itself cracked. I’ll be interested to follow your solution if you find one that works.

Thanks in advance,
Hi Far,
Most of the fender Mfgrs offer a lifetime warranty. Taylor, Polyform [I think Scanmarin too]. You might contact your local Dealer if it is one of those brands.
