Facnor problems

Try this before throwing away your roll. I have a Facnor LS200 that has become slower every year despite regular rinsing. The problem is that I can not reach the bearings. This year it was so firm that it was not possible to spin even with a large wrench. As a final attempt before switching to a new one, I did this. In the middle of the drum I drilled a hole for the hose on my oil change pump. See attached picture. Pressed in a couple of jugs of hot water with detergent, a lot of brown grease came out. Then seal the hole with a little Sikaflex. It is now like new, pulls the sail in and out by hand, which did not go as long as I had the boat. The roll is from 2006, maybe Facnor does not like this because I have understood that they want to sell a new one to us. Good luck.

Re: Facnor problems

Excellent solution, Stellavita. I think Facnor would approve. I have a Facnor LS 130 from around 2017 and it has a similar sort of hole though I think it's just below the drum. Put a hose to it regularly.
