Exhaust antisiphon, lift muffler, exhaust elbow riser above waterline?

It's time for me to replace my exhaust mixing elbow and pipe. You can see in the picture the p.o has it where it mixes and turns to the lift muffler but it is still below the waterline. I figure I have about 6 inches to raise before it's at the waterline. I assume the safest arrangement is to make the turn as high up as possible and then a siphon break up as high as possible from that. Then down to the lift muffler? I'm not to sure how the lift muffler comes into play. Should it be below the motor? Here's a few pictures. Wondering if I just replace or if I need to modify this

From the picture your installation looks correct

You can’t lower the aqua muffler ... no space

If you raised the exhaust outlet even higher you would have to somehow support this free standing pipe ?

I would stick to the present geometry

Do wrap high temp exhaust lagging , insulation on the hot section

Re: Exhaust antisiphon, lift muffler, exhaust elbow riser above waterline?

When I installed my Yanmar 3GM30F I used all available space to get the mixing elbow high. I also used all available space to get the discharge from the muffler up as high as I could. I used one 90 degree elbow there and a continuous downhill run to the discharge.

All water gets trapped in the muffler or runs out the exhaust thru-hull. No chance of getting water locked.
