I just purchased a
boat in
Denmark. Its
on the hard and covered with HEAVY nylon tarp. It Damn-near killed 2 of us covering the 27 foot
boat.
The Danes, clever folks, have custom fitted covers, that are made of a felt-like breathable material. I have seen the same material used here in
portugal on Lasers and Optimist dinghies.
My searches reveal what I think are a private
trade name, Moisture-guard 2000. It is apparently a 900D polyester
fabric with a
polyurethane membrane.
I can find NOTHING about this material online. Given it is
Denmark, they seem to know a bit about covering a boat in
winter. Yet I find no evidence of this material being used in the US.
I have a ballpark bid of $2500 for a cover. Does this sound reasonable? Anyone know anything about this material, so I can do cost comparisons?
