Re: Dump Airhead urine in galley sink?

What is your sink plumbed to? Does the pipe run somewhere near the head? Thought about plumbing in a Y connection and a valve, and making up a DIY urinal?

The head is opposite the galley, but you've got me thinking.
If I move the galley seacock closer to the center line, I might be able to run the hose through the bilge and tee into it! I'm going to give this one some serious thought. Thanks.

dissolves away the salt deposits....

Hmm...perhaps refill all those empty rum bottles and rely on customs to confiscate and, eugh, dispose of them for you?

Re: Dump Airhead urine in galley sink?

If you use a 5 gallon bucket on the deck for your facilities, it eliminates the need for all this, and you can wave hi to the neighbors during your morning constitutional. Just sayin.

Yeah rite It was no small job selling Leslie on the composting idea in the first place...she has yet to use it for solids and tries to not use it for peeing. Amazing bladder capacity for a woman who is less than 5 feet tall!

Tried this one time while beating into 30 knots. 1 foot on the stove, one on the sole, almost thru my ring out of gear and pooped myself. Now save a milk carton for these events.

Re: Dump Airhead urine in galley sink?

Change sink hose out every six months to year. What about a joker valve so said urine doesn't try to come back up while heeling. Also depending on where your seacock sits, flushing thoroughly may be difficult. Not that I've done it, or laid awake at night trying to figure out how to do it Also, maybe use a head cleaning product like KO to keep sink drain smelling fresh.

Devils advocate:
Urine is sterile (at first) unless you have an infection, but I can't help but think your dishwashing and hand washing sink needs to stay separate from your toilet...I'm just sayin. I think plumbing something dedicated for pee would be a good idea, which takes you right back to a head with y for direct overboard discharge sigh, this is the merry-go-round I'm going through. Life will be sweeter off shore.

Boats WOULD be perfect if the dang head wasn't so imperfect!

Re: Dump Airhead urine in galley sink?

A little clarification and request for forgiveness...

My uncouth reference above to an airhead/blonde has absolutely no relation to the lady in Virginia-boy's pic, it was intended as a fictional pun. It was when I noticed the pic and the mention of the lady's name in post #23 that my conscience plagued me. No offense intended, and if any taken, my sincere apologies. The cyber-cement sets too fast on this forum....wish I had the edit-chisel like the mods.

Re: Dump Airhead urine in galley sink?

Fish pee in the water. Turtles, porpoises, crabs, other see critters pee on the water. Poo too. And don't forget pelicans, seagulls, etc. Whales? Don't get me started. They must pee barrels at a time.

My 3 way valve stays locked on "holding tank" but the key is right there, if you know what I mean. When it's just number one, it goes in the water, unless the tank is recently emptied and I want something in there so the waste gestapo sees that the tank gets used.

Hmmm . . . I missed that as well, micah. I hope my comment playing off yours caused no offense and I apologize if it did so.

Thanks, Erika, for taking a little of the (unintended) sting out of our heedless posts.
