Dumb question? What do you call the vinyl line storage bag?

I have a little boat I picked up and wanted to add one or two line/sheet vinyl storage bag - that bag where you stuff the lines/sheets normally on front of cockpit or near winches.

But I don't know what they're called, so my amazon searching is coming up with strange items

Any help is appreciated.

Sheet bag. There are other kinds, but plenty of the nautical ones will pop up on the first Google page.

Thanks, Bill. Apparently, there are none on Amazon... I had tried "line bag", but even "sheet bag" brings up nothing.

Maybe I can get my wife to make a couple

Re: Dumb question? What do you call the vinyl line storage bag?

There are different ones here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0711ZKX1J...&pd_rd_w=72n7f

https://www.amazon.com/Three-Pocket-.../dp/B00HS2T1M6

But probably more expensive than you'd find on a site like defender.

"Line organizer" is not the correct term for this, but it does turn up results:

https://www.amazon.com/Ready-America...line+organizer

https://www.amazon.com/Practical-Sol...line+organizer

Probably more satisfying to make your own.

Entire category here though: https://www.defender.com/category.js...970&id=2259981

Also there are different types of organizers. You don't have to use a bag!

We've been making our own for years. If you want to do that, be use some Breezeway, or other open weave pvc cloth for draining the bag. Then, the line dries in the bag after the rinsing by the rain.

Ann

I call 'em "rope bags". Not correct, I suppose, but it is easily understood.

Re: Dumb question? What do you call the vinyl line storage bag?

Thanks everyone! @odonnellryan, I'm not sure why my searches didn't find those, but thanks for the time to pull those up.

After researching, needing smaller ones than most boats, finding simple instructions on YouTube and being nice to my wife, she is going to make a couple for me

"Tail bag" ... for sheet ends. Get them Defenders, Pyacht or (maybe) West Marine. best to get those made from "textilene" (mesh) rather than canvas.

Yes....I've bought a few from Defender that also have pockets for winch handles - or beer bottles Very handy, and durable - though not particularly cheap.

Re: Dumb question? What do you call the vinyl line storage bag?

They may also be referred by the location of the bag: rail bags, cockpit bags, mast bags, ...
Look for example here, these guys mostly make sheet bags (or what you want to call them) for different uses:
